Photo Essay: FFM on Aquaculture The voices of Marakkanam: The members of the FFM visit Marakkanam, another village affected by the effluents of the aquaculture farm. The effluents from the shrimp farm are discharged into the canal from where the salt pans get their water. Salt production and quality has suffered. The salt, which used to be bright white, is now a light orange or dull white. Close to 10,000 salt pan workers are dependent on this industry.
