INDIANS BUT NOT INDIANS..
Gothikoya tribes

-Report by P.S.Ajay Kumar, G.K.Yashwanth, P.Malsur Naik

Visit on 7-8th Jan, 2008, Organized by ASDS and Sitara (NGO's)

On 8th Prof. K.Kodandaram, Advisor to commissioner. Right to food case, Supreme Court and MV foundation volunteers also joined us.

Introduction

Andhra Pradesh (Khammam district) - Chhattisgarh (Dantewada and Bastar district) states share a common boundary which is densely covered by reserve forests. The main dwellers of this forest are Gothikayas and koyas.

Naxalite (Maoists) vs Salwa Judum

Salwa Judum (peace army) which is indirectly being promoted by Chhattisgarh govt. and CPI (M.L) Maoists are in civil war against each other from past few months.

In the due course, the common dwellers of the war area i.e. the tribes i.e. Guthi Koyyas of Chhattisgarh are migrating towards Andhra region forests mainly in Khammam district. These migrations are also called as 'Internally Displaced People' (IDP) in legal vocabulary.

National and international media and Human rights groups has been highlighting the Salwa Judum vs Maoists civil war and the displacement of the tribal to Andhra regions. So we are concentrating more on the problems faced by migrated Gothi-Koyas who are presently staying in Khammam district forests.

Let's Join Hands

People interested in this issue should discuss in forums and get a proper idea of present situation. Planning and execution of the relief activities can be master planned for integral development and optimal utilization of resources.

They need our moral support first. They need someone who can stand up for them, for their needs, for their rights. Lets do our best for them -- the poor INDIANS BUT NOT INDIANS.
