On Tuesday 16 October, the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) held a Policy Round Table on Food Security and Climate Change. PCFS Representative, Amy Padilla made an intervention on climatechange adaptation on behalf of the Civil Society Mechanism Working Group on Climate Change.

Rural communities in the Global South are facing increasing challenges to their food security. Their livelihoods are threatened by increasing land and water resourcegrabs; extreme weather fluctuations, and rising food prices. Despite the numerous challenges facing rural communities, they remain organized and defiant. Peasant grassroots organizations, civil society organisations and multi-sectoral platforms for food sovereignty are mobilizing and demanding that their voices be heard and their rights respected.
