October 2014 release of SpeakOut against Corporate Capture of Agriculture in Asia
As we commemorate the World Food(less) Day this year, the People's Coalition on Food Sovereignty in Asia is grateful to release a SpeakOut against Corporate Capture of Agriculture in Asia. Together with partners in the region and national level, PCFS highlights the different grassroots struggles against the environmental and human rights violations of transnational corporations (TNCs) in Asia. YOGYAKARTA, Indonesia – Recognizing the alarming supermarket’s expansion across continents, escalating mainly in Asia, the People’s Coalition on Food Sovereignty (PCFS) actively spoke and engaged in the recently held three-day workshop organized by GRAIN Asia from 25 – 27 September in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
The workshop entitled “Challenges on Supermarket Expansion in Asia” was attended by around thirty (30) participants from seven (7) different countries in Australasia. October 3, 2014 – A new edition of the book Neoliberal Subversion of Agrarian Reform, first published eight years ago, is now available after its simultaneous double launch in Penang, Malaysia and Yogyakarta, Indonesia on September 25.
The book was launched by the People’s Coalition on Food Sovereignty (PCFS) together with IBON International and IBON Institute for International Development (I3D) in cooperation with the Pesticide Action Network – Asia Pacific (PAN-AP) and GRAIN-Asia.

New York, USA – Members of the People’s Coalition on Food Sovereignty (PCFS) have recently participated in the 69th High Level Plenary Meeting of the UN General Assembly known to be the World Conference on Indigenous Peoples held in the UN Headquarters in New York, USA last 22-23 September 2014.
The said conference has discussed the priorities for indigenous peoples in the Post-2015 Development Agenda while CSOs participating expressed serious concern with limited reference indigenous people’s rights. The High Level Meeting was expected to further strengthen and affirm the commitments by states to implement the UN Declaration on Indigenous Peoples in 2007.

The Center for Research and Advocacy in Manipur (CRAM) has released their July-September 2014 Newsletter Issue about the development injustice in Manipur. The newsletter talks about the sustainable development goals in the context of the Manipur situation as well as the continuing local struggles such as the heavy militarization of rural areas and the large-scale dam constructions that affect hundreds of indigenous families and communities.
