Petition in Support of the Demands of the Farm Workers and Residents for Free Land Distribution and Ouster of the Military in Hacienda Luisita

We support the struggle of the farm workers and residents of Hacienda Luisita for free land distribution and the ouster of the military there.

According to the April 24, 2012 decision of the Supreme Court, the farm workers are the legitimate owners of Hacienda Luisita. But the owners of the Hacienda the Cojuangco’s, which includes President Noynoy Cojuangco Aquino and his siblings, subverted this through the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

Instead, DAR implemented the distribution of the land through a lottery. DAR even warned that whoever does not join this and signs the APFU (Application to Purchase and Farmers Undertaking) would not be given any land. Direct harassment was applied in a number of barangays in order that the beneficiaries would join this farce.
