The participants discussed the increasing land grabbing of arable land, construction of mega-dams, displacement of local peoples, increasing militarization, and lack of food sovereignty driving hunger and poverty in the region. They raised the concerns of the people and considered their calls for action.

Kampala, Uganda – ESAFF Uganda hosted a television show to raise awareness among the people of the problems in rural areas and agricultural production in the country. They highlighted the failures of the Ugandan Government to support small-scale farmers and called for food sovereignty as the only sustainable solution to poverty and hunger. ESAFF Uganda also participated in the annual World Food Day Events to demonstrate the benefits of indigenous produce.

Dhaka, Bangladesh - Sseventeen rights based civil society organizations led by Equity BD along with SAAPE (South Asia Alliance for Poverty Eradication) organized a human chain / rally in front of National Press Club Dhaka for observance of 16th October as World Food Less Day while different organization and United Nation observing the day as world food day. In line several other international alliance like the People’s Coalition for Food Sovereignty (PCFS), Pesticide Action Network Asia Pacific (PANAP), La Via Campesina, Jubilee South - world anti debt coalition and their alliance members also observing the World Foodless Day across the world to raise the voices of the hungry.
